FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CINCINNATI'S CHRIST HOSPITAL EMPLOYS XANTECH'S NEW INTELLIGENT SYSTEM MANAGER FOR LIFE-SAVING eICU® PATIENT MONITORING SYSTEM
- Xantech provides the critical link for an enhanced level of proactive healthcare that continually analyzes patient conditions and alerts medical staff of potential problems, while allowing for a simplified patient-doctor videoconferencing protocol -
SYLMAR, CA, November 4, 2008 - Cincinnati's Christ Hospital recently became the first hospital in its region to implement VISICU's patented eICU® Program, employing an extensive range of products from Xantech Commercial, a leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution for 40 years. The eICU Program combines early warning software and remote monitoring to connect off-site critical care physicians and nurses to ICU patients around the clock. The Christ Hospital's eICU Program, called Critical Connections, supplements existing ICU bedside care, allowing eICU and ICU teams to work together to provide an enhanced level of proactive care. The combination of early warning software and remote monitoring, along with doctor-patient videoconferencing, has been proven to reduce unnecessary complications, shorten the hospital length of stay and improve mortality rates.
This complex network of computers and sensors operates smoothly with a flexible intelligent remote control system, consisting of several products from Xantech, which were installed by Cincinnati-based CTS Technologies. Central to the system's design are Xantech's ISM4 Intelligent System Manager, CRMWIC Commercial Room Monitor/Web Intelligent Controller, 283M Blink-IR Mouse Emitter, SMMAG01 Magnetic Sensor Module and SMVID01 Video Sensor Module. As part of the eICU hardware, these Xantech units help monitoring physicians have complete control over patient observation and communication with on-site personnel.
With the added functionality of Xantech products, the eICU Program vastly improves Christ Hospital's previous doctor-patient videoconferencing systems, which required two separate video monitors in each patient's room (one for conferencing, one for television). With these prior systems, the dedicated conferencing monitors needed to stay "on" at all hours, creating unnecessary utility costs, not to mention the financial burden of extra television units, and increasing the possibility of the monitor being inadvertently turned off. Xantech products offer a solution to these problems by combining both television and conferencing onto one monitor. This is made possible with Xantech's newly-introduced ISM4 Intelligent System Manager, which can turn the monitor on, if necessary, and switch to videoconference mode, along with the CRMWIC Commercial Room Monitor/Web Intelligent Controller, which stores the TV information for retrieval post-conference. With Xantech's help, the eICU system cuts down on energy consumption and the video monitors that the hospital needs to buy, all the while offering a more reliable, finely-tuned life-saving solution.
"We selected Xantech products because they are essential to the system's functionality, plus they are flexible and dependable while being cost-effective," stated Mark Cohea, CTS Technologies Director of Technology Business Development. "Caring for critically ill patients leaves no room for error, and we can rely on Xantech products to provide exactly what the eICU Program needs in terms of reliability and control."
Rick Seegull, Xantech Director of Business Development, stated, "We are very pleased to have been chosen by CTS Technologies to be an integral part of the eICU Program, which provides critical information to the physician and ultimately will help save lives. The eICU Program represents another way that technology is being used to augment traditional medical care, and it is noteworthy that Xantech is a key component."
The Christ Hospital plans to expand its Critical Connections program to surrounding communities, in order to provide enhanced critical care coverage for ICU patients in other hospitals. Through the Critical Connections Program, such patients will have access to around-the-clock advanced critical care experts, located in the Christ Hospital-based Critical Connections Center, without having to leave their local hospital.

Xantech Introduces Incredibly Useful Black Box: Intelligent System Manager Keeps Home Theater Systems Running |

XANTECH INTRODUCES INCREDIBLY USEFUL BLACK BOX: INTELLIGENT SYSTEM MANAGER KEEPS HOME THEATER SYSTEMS RUNNING
Xantech invents a way to outsmart ‘human error' in today's sophisticated AV entertainment systems. The new ‘Intelligent Systems Manager' is designed to prevent system catastrophes when casual users start pushing buttons.
Sylmar, Calif. - June 1, 2008 - Today's home theater systems are so complex that even turning them OFF incorrectly can disrupt settings. Xantech's new ‘ISM4' Intelligent Systems Manager is an ideal back-up to eliminate the "human error" problem. It manages the power states of the components in a home theater system so that in the event of an un-programmed intervention, (such as a visitor turning off a TV screen at the unit itself) all of the video sources will remain coordinated and fully-functional. "While it might seem unfair to describe this product as a ‘granny guard,' we engineered the ‘ISM4' for just that scenario: when the non-technical person attempts to access and use a high-tech entertainment system, which often results in a catastrophe," notes Xantech President Graham Hallett. "The potential for this device is almost unlimited because I believe that every installer will want one of these units in almost every job they do. The ‘ISM4' delivers peace-of-mind for a very small price, reducing time-consuming and costly service call-backs. It belongs in any home where a complex audio/video entertainment system converges with family, children, spouses, and visitors because it brings real-world operational simplicity to leading-edge A/V components." The ‘ISM4' is designed for easy installation: just ‘point and shoot' any IR remote controls from the equipment to be controlled, and the device learns their codes. No PC programming is required. Once programmed, the unit can sense the MASTER SOURCE so that if it is switched ON the ‘ISM4' will automatically turn on all other sources connected. If the master source is turned OFF the ‘ISM4' will make sure all sources turn OFF and stay OFF. If a unit is turned OFF when it is supposed to be on, the ‘ISM4' will automatically turn the unit back on. Moreover, the ‘ISM4' constantly checks the power status of all units every 30 seconds. Keeping with the need to conserve energy, the unit also conserves power by keeping all units OFF when system is turned OFF. The ‘ISM 4' will be available the end of June at a retail price of $350.
In Brief: Release Summary
Key ISM 4 features include:
- Intelligent System Manager (4 Sources).
- Manages power state of up to 8 units via sensing modules (expands to 2 units for up to 8 sources).
- Send IR or RS232 command for ON-State and unit will make sure all units are turned ON and kept ON (i.e. constantly checks power status of all units every 30 seconds. If unit turns off when supposed to be ON, ‘ISM4' will automatically turn the unit back ON).
- ON or OFF state can be controlled either by RS232 or IR or by simply turning one of the units ON manually. For example, turn on PLASMA with its ON button. Unit will sense the MASTER
SOURCE is switched ON and automatically turn on all other sources connected. Turn OFF MASTER SOURCE and ‘ISM4' will make sure all sources turn OFF and STAY OFF.
- Conserves power by keeping all units off when system is off.
- Get power status via RS232 Query.
- Monitors source power state with any Xantech sensor modules (Video, Current, Voltage, Light, Audio etc. ).
- No PC programming required (point and shoot IR).

The new Multi-Room Web Controller is an integrated web server that allows flexible whole house control and benefits both installers and homeowners.
Sylmar, Calif. - June 1, 2008 - Xantech Corporation, a leading producer of innovative and reliable custom installation products, announces the Multi-Room Web Controller (‘MRWC'), an integrated web server that enables Xantech products to be controlled, monitored, and accessed from any computer connected to a Local Area Network (LAN) or the Internet. The advantage of the ‘MRWC' is a built in web page already programmed into the unit. The ‘MRWC' benefits both the installer and the homeowner. It is plug-and-play ready, meaning with an established internal network, the ‘MRWC' can be set up with no additional programming. Installers simply connect one end to the ‘MRC88' serial port and the other end to an existing home network. No PC Programming or network configuration is required. For the homeowner, it allows flexible whole house control from any PC, wired or wireless, on the homeowner's network using the PC's Internet browser. "We developed and delivered the ‘MRWC' to be as easy as possible for both the installer and the homeowner. Having networked web control from any PC wired or wireless (or even a Wi-Fi cell phone) allows the homeowner to control any room from anywhere in (or around) the house," says Rick Seagull, Director of Business Development for Xantech. The ‘MRWC' is capable of controlling Xantech's award-winning ‘MRC88' and ‘MRAUDIO8X8' distribution amplifier from a web based platform. XANTECH RELEASES NEW VIDEO STABILIZER: REMOVES DC BUILD-UP
Xantech expands HD Distribution line with the VS100 Video Stabilizer. The VS100 stabilizes video signals by controlling DC offset build-up commonly found between source and distribution systems.
Sylmar, Calif. - June 1, 2008 - Xantech now delivers a clean solution to video distribution system incompatibility with the launch of the VS100 video stabilizer. Packaged with red, green, and blue component video adapters, the VS100 is a grab-and-connect solution that provides video distribution reliability in any installation. "One of the most common technical support calls we receive regarding HD video systems is the issue of incompatibility between sources and distribution systems. In all cases, the culprit points to the cable box, which does a poor job of preventing DC build-up on the video output signals," stated Henry Herrera, Technical Support Specialist at Xantech. "The VS100 adapter provides a bridge over the problem and comes packaged to be installed in-line with current cabling, giving a clean install look." Designed for component video applications with Y, Pb, Pr signals, the VS100 solves the problem where HD video sources, primarily with cable and satellite receiver boxes, do not work correctly with the HD distribution products. The reason is often DC voltage build-up on the video signals that results in picture instability and improper color production. The use of color-coded red, blue, and green component video colors between the video source and the distribution system stabilizes the video signal and solves a potential installation issue. No additional power supply or cabling is required. The VS100 adapters fit inline between the RCA-type component video cables.
In Brief: Release Summary Xantech is now shipping the VS100 Video Stabilizer. The VS100 stabilizes video signals by controlling DC offset build-up between source and distribution systems. The VS100 is packaged with Y, Pb, and Pr adapters. The VS100 retail price is $34.99.

XANTECH IPOD DOCKING STATION ACHIEVES TWO INDUSTRY 'FIRSTS'
The first iPod docking station to offer high-resolution component video output also achieves a first in style by integrating European design with American engineering.
Sylmar, Calif. - June 1, 2008 - Xantech's ‘XIS100' docking station is the industry's first iPod docking station designed for the high-resolution television revolution. It features a unique component video output capability that will enable owners of the new 480P video output iPods to see their video in full native resolution on a plasma, LCD, or other compatible TV screen with component video output. "In a market full of iPod devices, there is always room for innovation and progress, and the leadership position belongs to the first to offer it," said Xantech's President, Graham Hallett. "Our new ‘XIS100' is such a product. It enables today's iPod owners to get true high-resolution performance from their devices. It has the superior functionality you expect from any Xantech product, and it is "formally dressed for partying" with the finest home entertainment systems by virtue of its compelling industrial design. In short, it is the perfect example of what to expect from now on from Xantech." Expected to reach the market in July 2008, the product is the result of an international collaborative effort involving Asian manufacturing and engineering, European designing, and Xantech's own American engineering. The result sets a new standard for both Xantech - the company who invented whole-house audio/video distribution - and the industry in general. The ‘XIS100' features a unique on-screen menu display and control system and is compatible with the latest iPod video technology. "In our view Xantech earned its place in the industry by being the first to enable the command and control of audio/video components and systems from remote locations, and as we move forward we will continue to be true to our heritage as being the brand behind the little black boxes which make everything work better together," notes Hallett. "But, when a product is in full view such as a remote control, keypad, or docking station, it needs a form to fit its function and harmonize with its environment. The ‘XIS100' is literally the ‘shape of things to come' from Xantech." In Brief: Release Summary

XANTECH INTRODUCES UPGRADE FOR XTR39 HAND-HELD TOUCH SCREEN CONTROLLER
Hand-Held Bi-Directional Control, New Wireless True Feedback Control, RF Solution Sends RF2IR2w Control Two-Way
Sylmar, Calif. - June 1, 2008 - Xantech introduces a new upgrade for the XTR39 hand-held touchscreen controller. Using the new RF2IR2w RF Base Station, the XTR39 can now communicate to any RS232 device to control and receive query information. Positive feedback such as command acknowledgment cannot be displayed on a simple hand-held remote control style LCD touch-screen as it can on the Bi-Directional control. "We are too used to pressing a remote control button and assuming a command initiates a user's order. With bi-directional control capability, an order confirmation can visually be acknowledged on a handheld controller," states Rick Seegull, Director of Business Development at Xantech. "The new Xantech bi-directional system can also be programmed to monitor video projector bulb-life and status condition, all in the palm of your hand." Using Universal Dragon Data Dictionary, the XTR39 can be programmed to communicate with the base station. The base station serves as the intermediary between the XTR39 and the controlled equipment, such as a projector or source component. XANTECH ADDS NEW CAT5 HDMI & IR CONTROL EXTENDER TO ITS FULL LINE OF HDMI PRODUCTS
New HDMIC5IR Merges XTRALINK Remote Control and High Definition Distribution Over Easy-to-Use CAT5 Cables
Sylmar, Calif. – January 29, 2008 – Xantech Corporation, a leading producer of innovative, reliable and problem-solving custom installation signal processing and control systems, is now shipping its newest addition to the HDMI product line, the HDMIC5IR.
The HDMIC5IR provides High Definition distribution over CAT5 cables. Using the same CAT5 cables, any Xantech IR system can be added providing remote control extension between video source and video display. One ideal application for the HDMIC5IR is overhead video projectors. Providing HDMI over CAT5 allows the installer to use low cost, construction-friendly CAT5 cables when doing wire runs from the equipment rack to an overhead location. In addition, the IR capabilities can control the video projector from the equipment rack or central IR receiver. Another popular application is distributing high-definition to a wall-mounted flat-screen panel display. The video source, such as a high-definition cable box, can now be hidden in a remote location giving the flat-screen panel display location true freedom.
“After the product line’s introduction, Xantech HDMI became an instant hit,” said Wes Ferris, director of sales for Xantech. “My fellow sales managers and I are very excited to add a very versatile piece to our excellent and extensive HDMI product line. The installer will be happy with the number of solutions the HDMIC5IR can provide. Installation is quick and easy with the auto-sync feature.”
Probably the least noticed feature of the HDMIC5IR is the auto-sync feature. The HDMIC5IR has a synch LED that confirms a proper connection has been made between the transmitter and receiver. With auto-sync the HDMIC5IR can automatically adjust to variable cable lengths. With other systems, POT and DIP switch adjustments are required to get a traditional transmitter and receiver setup working. With auto-sync, one less installation step is required making setup quick and easy.
In Brief: Release Summary
- The HDMIC5IR is a new addition to Xantech’s extensive line of HDMI products. Retail price is $340.
- The HDMIC5IR features an auto-sync connection that automatically adjusts the system to variable cable lengths. No DIP switch or POT adjustments are required.
- The HDMIC5IR can distribute both HDMI and IR control over the same CAT5 cabling.
- Xantech is now shipping its new series of HDMI and HDMI-compatible products.
- The product series includes switchers, splitters, signal boosters, extenders cables, adaptors and accessories – everything needed to ensure the smoothly functioning distribution of content via HDMI.

XANTECH ADDS XC8C TO XC SPEAKER SERIES
Xantech’s New 8” XC Ceiling Speakers Ideal for Larger Installations
Sylmar, Calif. – December 4, 2007 – Xantech Corporation, a leading producer of innovative, reliable and problem-solving custom installation distribution and control systems, has added an 8” XC Ceiling Speaker (XC8C) to its XC Speaker Series the company has announced.
With effortless installation, the XC8C is designed to provide a natural, superior sound. The XC8C can be used with many audio systems, including Xantech’s award-winning multi-room platform.
“The XC8C continues the Xantech tradition of designing products to the highest standard,” said Tom Gandulla, West Coast regional sales manager. “As residential structures continue to increase in square footage, we realized that the preferred in-ceiling speaker will migrate from the popular 6.5” to a larger 8” size. Not only will the 8” speaker fit in a large common room, the increased woofer size will give more bass and deliver additional value to any installation.”
Easily reproducing sounds in the extended frequency range, the XC8C’s stiff, light, mineral-filled polypropylene woofer cones feature improved smoothness and frequency extension. A rubber half-roll surround dampens the cone to ensure long-term durability while aluminum woofer voice coils allow for increased power handling and add to the speaker’s longevity. The XC8C contains a pivoting silk dome tweeter with wide dispersion design and is Ferro-fluid cooled for a lasting listening pleasure.
Recently, Xantech introduced loudspeakers designed to deliver the ultimate in value and performance with perfected sound quality to please the most discriminating listener. The finished products evolved into three distinct model ranges: XTC Reference, the premium series, XTC and the value line called XC. The products are available as in-wall (rectangle), in-ceiling (round) and in-ceiling stereo configurations. There are speakers available with 5.25” woofers, 6.5” woofers and 8” woofers. Every system speaker has pivoting tweeters that allow the dealer to fine tune the image and “sweet spot” for every room and installation.

XANTECH HD16D NAMED CES INNOVATIONS 2008 DESIGN AND ENGINEERING AWARD HONOREE
Xantech’s Single-Source Distribution Amp Recognized by Consumer Electronics Association
Sylmar, Calif. – November 27, 2007 – Xantech Corporation has announced its HD16D, a one-in, six-out distribution amplifier featured in Xantech’s complete line of video distribution products, has been named a Consumer Electronics Association Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Award honoree in the Multi-Room Audio/Video product category.
Judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade press, the Innovations Design and Engineering Awards recognize the most innovative consumer electronic products in the industry. All honorees will be featured in a special display at the 2008 International CES held January 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“We are thankful to the Consumer Electronics Association for honoring us with an award for the HD16D," said Graham Hallett, Xantech president. "The HD16D is the latest expression of Xantech's commitment to design excellence. We know custom installers can achieve greater success when they are provided with superior products. The premium quality of the HD16D's audio and video distribution design gives our customers the extra edge.”
The HD16D drives up to six A/V components from a single source. Each output is active buffered with its own high-bandwidth operational amplifier circuit. This ensures every distributed signal maintains accuracy with zero-tolerance signal degradation. The internal circuit also compensates for signal in-compatibility that often occurs between different brand A/V source components and displays. Proper DC blocking maintains signal level that would otherwise result in bleeding and variable color intensity over time. In addition, the HD16D features an Active Expansion Output capable of daisy-chaining multiple devices for larger installations. The Active Expansion Output uses active circuitry, not a passive simple loop-thru, ensuring that the same great picture quality is maintained at each output stage.
The HD16D is built with heavy gauge sheet metal that protects the critical audio and video signals from radio-wave interference and EMI. Also, with proper grounding, the metal case protects against ESD and static shock. Using gold-plated RCA terminals and a gold plated printed circuit board (PCB), the HD16D is the ultimate in reliability and consistent performance.
In Brief: Release Summary
- Xantech’s HD16D has been selected as a CES Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Award honoree.
- The HD16D was honored in the Multi-Room Audio/Video product category.
- All honorees will be featured in a special display at the 2008 International CES held January 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
