XANTECH PRODUCTS CHOSEN FOR STATE-OF-THE-ART TRAINING ROOMS FOR THE SARASOTA OFFICE OF FCCI INSURANCE GROUP

SYLMAR, CA, May 20, 2009 -- The corporate headquarters and Florida Regional Office of FCCI Insurance Group (FCCI) in Sarasota, Florida, recently upgraded three of its training/conference rooms with state-of-the-art high-tech solutions from Xantech Commercial, a global leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution for 40 years. The installation was completed by Largo, Florida-based Technical Resource Group (TRG).

FCCI's Sarasota office/corporate headquarters has three meeting rooms specifically designated for teleconferencing, group collaboration and corporate training. In the past, FCCI rented racks of wireless microphones from TRG for various functions and meetings. This relationship prompted FCCI to contact TRG System Design/Engineer Keith Gilliam to discuss the organization's expanding media needs. FCCI was searching for a system that would be flexible enough to accommodate different and changing technical needs. Since various trainers and employees use the rooms, it was imperative that the new system be easy to use. The new A/V system was designed around a centrally located equipment rack, providing each training room with its own control system with access to the equipment rack via the Xantech CSPLCD39GW Commercial Touchscreen Display, Xantech CRMWIC Commercial Room Monitor/Web Intelligent Controller modules and Xantech IPRS23202 Xtralink IP modules.

The system also consists of six Sennheiser EW100 series wireless microphones with antenna distribution, which can be configured to any room via the Biamp AudiaFLEX with a Volume/Select 8 wall panel in each room. Each room is equipped with an Eiki LCD or DLP Projector, permanently mounted, transporting video over CAT5 protocol to the Analog Way QVP421 video switchers for each room. Two of the training rooms incorporate ceiling microphones for teleconferencing from the Biamp AudiaFLEX Digital Signal Processor System, which consists of various inputs, outputs and the teleconferencing modules.

Gilliam stated, "The Xantech CRMWIC and LCD Panels were the most logical answer to pull all these different pieces of equipment together and make the system easy for the trainers and other personnel to use. Rick Seegull of Xantech was a great help to Technical Resource Group, consulting on the functionality requirements of the room and offering the best Xantech solution for the application. The ability to program much of the CRMWIC from TRG's offices remotely - an hour and half away from the client - was a definite bonus."

Everything within the system is on the LAN Network and the CRMWIC, making it virtually a plug-and-play installation. The trainers are able to control the projectors, video switchers, digital signal processor, teleconferencing and room setup via the CRMWIC and the Xantech LCD Touch Screen Panel, triggering each programmed event.

Gilliam: "FCCI's employees like the web interface and the timed events powering down the projectors at the end of the day and warming the projectors up before training sessions, as well as the one-touch room setup presets for each training room. The setup time for each training session is now next-to-nothing. The trainer/presenters can arrive and connect their laptops at the beginning of the session and set up the room configuration from the LCD Panel/CRMWIC, and everything is ready. And the trainers have the ability to dial the Teleconferencing sessions from the LCD Panels. A true all-in-one panel!"

Xantech products chosen for Athletic Facility A/V System at Franklin & Marshall College

XANTECH PRODUCTS CHOSEN FOR ATHLETIC FACILITY A/V SYSTEM AT FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE

— State of the art squash courts get state of the art technology in the form of easy-to-use Xantech touchscreens based around the CRMWIC Commercial Room Monitor/Web Intelligent Controller, whose sophisticated features let users do more for less —

SYLMAR, CA, April 27, 2009 — One of oldest institutions of higher education in the U.S., with origins dating back to the 18th century, Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, provides its 2,100 students with a well-rounded liberal arts program, one that lives up to the legacies of both the school’s namesakes, Benjamin Franklin and revered former Supreme Court Chief Justice John Marshall. The school also prides itself on its athletic programs, and when it wanted to add a layer of advanced A/V technology for its squash courts, it turned to Xantech Commercial, a global leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution for 40 years, for advanced yet cost-effective solutions. The equipment was sold and installed by B&B Communications (www.bandbcomm.com), also located in Lancaster, which for 35 years has been serving the audio, video and telecommunications needs of business, educational, healthcare and religious institutions throughout Pennsylvania as well as parts of Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey. B&B Technician Dennis Heim completed the rackfilling, wiring and programming of the Xantech equipment. The project was completed in early April 2009.

The College sought to add video recording capability to each of its five championship-level squash courts, with a separate camera and DVD recorder for each one. Signal from these recorders would also be converted to an IP format and be able to be streamed to other locations on campus. Furthermore, the school also wanted to enable users to plug their own portable music devices, such as an iPod, into the courts’ audio system and add the ability to interface a wireless microphone system for announcements. The most efficient way to accomplish all of this was to create a sophisticated routing matrix that would be intuitively accessible by a wide range of users. That’s where Xantech technology solutions came in.

“We needed to be able to tie all levels of control together into a single touchscreen interface,” explains Jeff Tate, Sales Engineer at B&B Communications. The solution centered on a Xantech CSPLCD64GW 6.4-inch Commercial Touchscreen Display, programmed to control and manage the entire A/V system. This is tied to a Xantech Commercial RS2321x8 1X8 (Eight-Channel) Addressable Serial Router, which links to all five cameras and DVD recorders. Attached to this is the Xantech Commercial CRMWIC Commercial Room Monitor/Web Intelligent Controller, used to communicate via IP connectivity with a Biamp Nexia DSP unit and Extron matrix switcher. Rounding out the system is a Xantech Commercial RS422232 “RS422 to RS232 Module” converter unit that converts the RS2321x8 router’s four RS422 outputs to the RS232 format. “The RS2321x8 was the ideal choice since the runs on the project were all relatively local,” Tate explains.

He adds that B&B’s past experience with Xantech Commercial systems was a major reason they chose them for this project. “For what we need to do here, the Xantech equipment gave us a degree of sophistication for which you’d otherwise have to spend far more money to achieve – it’s very cost-effective technology,” he says. But it was also B&B’s focus on the customer that made Xantech a great choice. “The ‘simplicity of use’ matters tremendously to the end user,” Tate observes. “Franklin & Marshall College now gets a high level of functionality and performance on their touchscreen, and students and faculty can execute complex commands to the system with the touch of a single macro. It’s a great system to work with and a great system to use.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

XANTECH NOW SHIPPING IPRS232 XTRALINK IP

-- Successor to IPRS23202, IP-to-serial remote access controller
includes integral web server --

SYLMAR, CA, April 7, 2009 -- Xantech Corporation, proven leader in remote A/V control and distribution for over 40 years, announces the release of the new IPRS232 XtraLink IPTM IP-to-serial remote controller, extending its line of XtraLink IP products.

Replacing the existing IPRS23202, the new unit - with a significantly smaller footprint, Power Over Ethernet (POE) capability and superior CRMWIC (Commercial Room Monitor - Web Intelligent Controller) integration - offers a fully-functional, stand-alone IP-to-serial remote access controller (including a built-in Web server), and represents the ideal solution for delivering scalable LAN-based control for serial devices.

The unit allows RS232, 422 or 485 serial commands to be sent and received over an existing IP-based network - wired or wireless - to a specific destination IP address, offering new and improved opportunities both for retrofitting existing buildings where additional cable runs may be difficult or impossible, and also for extensive applications in new installations - and all without the need for dedicated control circuits and cabling. The unit features POE functionality to allow even more streamlined installation capabilities, and it acts as a remote expansion port for Xantech's series of IP-based control systems.

The IPRS232 features an RS232/422/485 port, POE-capable LAN port, and a MicroSD card slot for local device Web page control.

Combining the IPRS232 XtraLink IP and Xantech Commercial CRMWIC creates a complete network-based serial control and feedback system able to handle a multitude of devices, all over IP. Deploying the unit with a CSPLCD LCD controller and CRMWIC creates a powerful Room Control Kit allowing external room monitoring of parameters, such as projector status, over the IP network.

Xantech's new IPRS232 XtraLink IP is now available with a U.S. MSRP of $300.00.

XANTECH PRODUCTS CHOSEN FOR UNIVERSITY OF LIMERICK'S NEW LANGUAGE CENTRE

-- State-of-the-art Language Resource Area features individual student stations with 19-inch LCD monitors, each station with its own dedicated Xantech CSPLCD39GW Commercial Touchscreen Display --

SYLMAR, CA, March 19, 2009 -- The University of Limerick is one of Ireland's largest campuses, and its Department of Languages and Cultural Studies (LCS) is a particularly well-regarded program. Recently, the LCS department benefited from the unveiling of a new Languages Building. With this new facility came a massive technology upgrade, and a key component were products from Xantech Commercial, a global leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution for 40 years. The equipment was installed by Kildare-based Audiviz Ltd., a leading distributor and supplier of professional audio visual, automation and CCTV equipment to the Irish domestic and commercial and retail markets.

The Language Resource Area (LRA) offers support to the learning, teaching and research that takes place within the LCS department. The LRA works closely with the Language Support Unit (LSU) in assisting language students and the facility includes two computer labs specifically equipped for language teaching and learning, as well as a digital language lab. The main hub of the LRA is its state-of-the-art Self-Access Centre, which contains many resources that help students improve their language skills. Serving the students are 13 student stations, each with a 19-inch LCD Monitor. These networked stations are controlled by thirteen Xantech CSPLCD39GW Commercial Touchscreen Displays, and the flow of information is facilitated by two Xantech RT16-10 Addressable IR Routers, each with its own additional CSPLCD39GW display.

"We at Audiviz Ltd. are of the opinion that Xantech Commercial's solutions are unparalleled in the AV market," stated Audiviz Ltd.'s Fergus Morris, who had a key hand in the system design and integration. "When the University approached us for this project, we knew that Xantech controllers would be our first and only recommendation. The University tested a number of other brands of equipment, but it is no surprise that Xantech won the day!"

XANTECH COMMERCIAL EXHIBITS THE

ISM4 INTELLIGENT SYSTEM MANAGER/CONTROLLER

- Unit offers contractors and system integrators automatic syncing and status control for up to four IR component sources and is expandable to support over eight sources -

- XPS programming feature eliminates the need for programming with a PC, and power status sensing assures system synchronization -

INTEGRATED SYSTEMS EUROPE, AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, February 3, 2009 - Xantech Corporation, a leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution for 40 years, exhibits the ISM4 Intelligent System Manager/Controller, the most reliable way to monitor the power status of IR components in an installed AV system. Using any IR remote control, users can program the System Manager to turn on the display, DVD player, cable, AV receiver or other system component, instantly and automatically setting everything to the proper Input and volume level. The ISM4 offers visibility of any IR component's Power State and automatically issues the proper commands to keep it in sync with the rest of the system; operation is as simple as turning on the user-designated "master device" component, and the ISM4's settings coordinate the entire system. System synchronization has never been simpler or more reliable.

The ISM4 monitors the power status of up to four IR components, with the ability to expand to over eight sources, ensuring that all components are ON or OFF when they are supposed to be. The on/off master control can be set via IR or R-S232, or manually. With RS-232 status output, contractors and system integrators can offer customers higher level control systems that monitor system power status of individual components. The ISM4 can also be used with all of Xantech's Sensor modules for audio, video, CC, AC/DC and current and even a light sensor, providing the ultimate in status monitoring confidence (One SMVID01 video sensor is included; other sensors are sold separately). Furthermore, the ISM4's XPS programming feature makes it a completely self-contained device and eliminates the need to use a PC for programming. The XPS feature also includes a cloning feature that allows the system integrator to copy programming from one unit to another for even greater efficiency during the system's integration process.

Applications for the ISM4 include hotel room entertainment systems and classroom presentation cart systems, as well as in conference rooms and wherever reliable IR control and system status verification is critical. "Users of commercial audio/video systems have been reluctant to use IR components in the past because they could never be certain if every device in a system was actually on or off and in synch with the other components," explains Rick Seegull, Director of Business Development for Xantech. "In a conference room, for instance, the video display and audio system are on and being heard or seen, but when it comes time to start a presentation, they find that the DVD player isn't turned on, which disrupts the flow of the presentation. The ISM4 changes all of that. You can always have complete confidence that all of the IR components in a system are in synch - on or off - and users can address the system in the way that suits them best, with the IR remote, through RS-232, or just by hitting the power switch on whichever component is the master device."

CINCINNATI'S CHRIST HOSPITAL EMPLOYS XANTECH'S NEW INTELLIGENT SYSTEM MANAGER FOR LIFE-SAVING eICU® PATIENT MONITORING SYSTEM

- Xantech provides the critical link for an enhanced level of proactive healthcare that continually analyzes patient conditions and alerts medical staff of potential problems, while allowing for a simplified patient-doctor videoconferencing protocol -

SYLMAR, CA, November 4, 2008 - Cincinnati's Christ Hospital recently became the first hospital in its region to implement VISICU's patented eICU® Program, employing an extensive range of products from Xantech Commercial, a leader in the field of audio/video remote control and distribution for 40 years. The eICU Program combines early warning software and remote monitoring to connect off-site critical care physicians and nurses to ICU patients around the clock. The Christ Hospital's eICU Program, called Critical Connections, supplements existing ICU bedside care, allowing eICU and ICU teams to work together to provide an enhanced level of proactive care. The combination of early warning software and remote monitoring, along with doctor-patient videoconferencing, has been proven to reduce unnecessary complications, shorten the hospital length of stay and improve mortality rates.

This complex network of computers and sensors operates smoothly with a flexible intelligent remote control system, consisting of several products from Xantech, which were installed by Cincinnati-based CTS Technologies. Central to the system's design are Xantech's ISM4 Intelligent System Manager, CRMWIC Commercial Room Monitor/Web Intelligent Controller, 283M Blink-IR Mouse Emitter, SMMAG01 Magnetic Sensor Module and SMVID01 Video Sensor Module. As part of the eICU hardware, these Xantech units help monitoring physicians have complete control over patient observation and communication with on-site personnel.

With the added functionality of Xantech products, the eICU Program vastly improves Christ Hospital's previous doctor-patient videoconferencing systems, which required two separate video monitors in each patient's room (one for conferencing, one for television). With these prior systems, the dedicated conferencing monitors needed to stay "on" at all hours, creating unnecessary utility costs, not to mention the financial burden of extra television units, and increasing the possibility of the monitor being inadvertently turned off. Xantech products offer a solution to these problems by combining both television and conferencing onto one monitor. This is made possible with Xantech's newly-introduced ISM4 Intelligent System Manager, which can turn the monitor on, if necessary, and switch to videoconference mode, along with the CRMWIC Commercial Room Monitor/Web Intelligent Controller, which stores the TV information for retrieval post-conference. With Xantech's help, the eICU system cuts down on energy consumption and the video monitors that the hospital needs to buy, all the while offering a more reliable, finely-tuned life-saving solution.

"We selected Xantech products because they are essential to the system's functionality, plus they are flexible and dependable while being cost-effective," stated Mark Cohea, CTS Technologies Director of Technology Business Development. "Caring for critically ill patients leaves no room for error, and we can rely on Xantech products to provide exactly what the eICU Program needs in terms of reliability and control."

Rick Seegull, Xantech Director of Business Development, stated, "We are very pleased to have been chosen by CTS Technologies to be an integral part of the eICU Program, which provides critical information to the physician and ultimately will help save lives. The eICU Program represents another way that technology is being used to augment traditional medical care, and it is noteworthy that Xantech is a key component."

The Christ Hospital plans to expand its Critical Connections program to surrounding communities, in order to provide enhanced critical care coverage for ICU patients in other hospitals. Through the Critical Connections Program, such patients will have access to around-the-clock advanced critical care experts, located in the Christ Hospital-based Critical Connections Center, without having to leave their local hospital.

Xantech Introduces Incredibly Useful Black Box:
Intelligent System Manager Keeps Home Theater Systems Running

XANTECH INTRODUCES INCREDIBLY USEFUL BLACK BOX: INTELLIGENT SYSTEM MANAGER KEEPS HOME THEATER SYSTEMS RUNNING

Xantech invents a way to outsmart ‘human error' in today's sophisticated AV entertainment systems. The new ‘Intelligent Systems Manager' is designed to prevent system catastrophes when casual users start pushing buttons.

Sylmar, Calif. - June 1, 2008 - Today's home theater systems are so complex that even turning them
OFF incorrectly can disrupt settings. Xantech's new ‘ISM4' Intelligent Systems Manager is an ideal
back-up to eliminate the "human error" problem. It manages the power states of the components in a home theater system so that in the event of an un-programmed intervention, (such as a visitor turning off a TV screen at the unit itself) all of the video sources will remain coordinated and fully-functional.
"While it might seem unfair to describe this product as a ‘granny guard,' we engineered the ‘ISM4' for
just that scenario: when the non-technical person attempts to access and use a high-tech entertainment system, which often results in a catastrophe," notes Xantech President Graham Hallett. "The potential for this device is almost unlimited because I believe that every installer will want one of these units in almost every job they do. The ‘ISM4' delivers peace-of-mind for a very small price, reducing time-consuming and costly service call-backs. It belongs in any home where a complex audio/video entertainment system converges with family, children, spouses, and visitors because it brings real-world operational simplicity to leading-edge A/V components."
The ‘ISM4' is designed for easy installation: just ‘point and shoot' any IR remote controls from the
equipment to be controlled, and the device learns their codes. No PC programming is required. Once
programmed, the unit can sense the MASTER SOURCE so that if it is switched ON the ‘ISM4' will
automatically turn on all other sources connected. If the master source is turned OFF the ‘ISM4' will
make sure all sources turn OFF and stay OFF. If a unit is turned OFF when it is supposed to be on, the ‘ISM4' will automatically turn the unit back on. Moreover, the ‘ISM4' constantly checks the power status of all units every 30 seconds. Keeping with the need to conserve energy, the unit also conserves power by keeping all units OFF when system is turned OFF.
The ‘ISM 4' will be available the end of June at a retail price of $350.

In Brief: Release Summary

Key ISM 4 features include:

  • Intelligent System Manager (4 Sources).
  • Manages power state of up to 8 units via sensing modules (expands to 2 units for up to 8 sources).
  • Send IR or RS232 command for ON-State and unit will make sure all units are turned ON and kept ON (i.e. constantly checks power status of all units every 30 seconds. If unit turns off when supposed to be ON, ‘ISM4' will automatically turn the unit back ON).
  • ON or OFF state can be controlled either by RS232 or IR or by simply turning one of the units ON manually. For example, turn on PLASMA with its ON button. Unit will sense the MASTER
SOURCE is switched ON and automatically turn on all other sources connected. Turn OFF MASTER SOURCE and ‘ISM4' will make sure all sources turn OFF and STAY OFF.
  • Conserves power by keeping all units off when system is off.
  • Get power status via RS232 Query.
  • Monitors source power state with any Xantech sensor modules (Video, Current, Voltage, Light, Audio etc. ).
  • No PC programming required (point and shoot IR).
